Summary:Aqueous hydrazine solutions containing acetone are concentrated by distillation in stages, the passage of the liquid phase from each stage to the next always being preceded by a holding period in a delay vessel and/or the distillation is carried out using one or more bubble-plate columns, the separate plates of which have a charging volume of 10-30 litres for 100 kgs. of charged vapour, each individual plate serving as a delay vessel. In examples, using an apparatus consisting of 5 separating columns each with a diameter of 38 mms. and a height of 200 mms. and a reflux column of the same size, each separating column being followed by a holding or delay vessel with a content of 200 ml. and a feed of 12% hydrazine hydrate and 28% of acetone, a distillate fraction is produced containing 5% of hydrazine hydrate and 86% of acetone, and a sump discharge containing 13.5% of hydrazine hydrate and 17% of acetone.
