The plastics material after washing and comminuting is centrifuged by continuing rotation of the impeller 4 and is eventually heated by the continuing rotation until it softens; cooling being effected by the sprinklers 13 and a granulate being the end product. The dried material is discharged at 9. Thus comminution cleaning, drying and granulating of the agglomerated heated and cooled plastics are all effected in the same vessel.
