Summary: | 1355452 Copolymers MONTECATINI EDISON SpA 9 March 1972 [12 March 1971] 11127/72 Heading C3P Copolymers containing vinyl chloride and acrylic ester units are obtained by polymerizing vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide in the presence of an alcohol, or reacting a vinyl chloride-carbon monoxide polymer with an alcohol. In examples, vinyl chloride and carbon monoxide are polymerized in n-pentane using t.butyl monoperoxalate as initiator or without diluent using benzoyl peroxide followed by reaction with methyl alcohol, or copolymerization is effected in the presence of methyl alcohol, 2 - ethylhexyl alcohol, beta - phenylethyl alcohol, ethylene glycol, 3-hydroxypropionic acid, with or without n-pentane or n-heptane diluent using the above initiators or triethylboron/oxygen. |
