A method for treating cancer using human growth hormone antagonists, comprising pre-screening a patient by analyzing a tumor biopsy to confirm the presence of cancer and the presence of certain predetermined factors indicative of responsiveness to human growth hormone antagonists; and treating the patient with an effective amount of a composition that includes a modified human growth hormone receptor antagonist and an anti-cancer composition.
