Summary:The present disclosure related generally to a water-resistant gypsum board having a density of at least 20 lbs/ft3comprising: a gypsum core, wherein the gypsum core comprises: calcium sulfate dihydrate; a modified starch having a peak viscosity of at least 500 BU and/or at least 715 cP, present in an amount in the range of 0.04-0.6 lbs/ft3, based on the density of the gypsum board; and a silicone oil present in an amount in the range of 0.01-0.6 lbs/ft3, based on the density of the gypsum board.
