Des aspects de l'invention concernent la biosynthèse de cannabinoïdes et de précurseurs de cannabinoïdes dans des cellules de recombinaison et in vitro. En particulier, l'invention concerne une variante de prényltransférase, une prényltransférase chimère comprenant une ou plusieurs parties d'au moins deux protéines de prényltransférase différentes, et un polypeptide de fusion comprenant une prényltransférase de type CBG et une farnésyl-pyrophosphate synthase.
