Controllers and methods for increasing situational awareness involve, in response to receiving a notification of a triggering event from a sensor, identifying an actor associated with the triggering event, a location of the actor, and a time of the triggering event; and correlating that information to a compilation of historical information by (i) determining whether the location of the actor is associated with one or more safety events stored in the compilation, (ii) determining a risk level of the actor based on whether the one or more associated safety events occurred within a predetermined range of time from the time of the triggering event, and (iii) determining whether a distance between a location of the sensor and the location of the actor is less than a high-risk threshold distance. A command is generated based on a result of the correlating, and sent to at least one controllable device. Des postes de commande et méthodes servant à améliorer la connaissance de la situation consistent à faire ce qui suit : déterminer, à la réception d'un avis d'événement de déclenchement envoyé par un capteur, un élément détecté associé à l'événement de déclenchement, un emplacement de l'élément détecté et une heure de l'événement de déclenchement; faire la mise en correspondance de ces renseignements avec une compilation de renseignements historiques en (i) déterminant si l'emplacement de l'élément détecté se rapporte à au moins un événement de sécurité stocké dans la compilation, (ii) en déterminant un niveau de risque de l'élément détecté selon que les événements de sécurité associés ont eu lieu pendant un intervalle prédéterminé qui commence au moment de l'événement de déclenchement et (iii) déterminer si une distance entre un emplacement du capteur et l'emplacement de l'élément de déclenchement est inférieure à une distance seuil de risque élevé. La prochaine étape consiste à générer une commande en fonction du résultat de la mise en correspondant, puis à envoyer cette commande à au moins un appareil pouvant être contrôlé.
