Summary:The present disclosure provides a method for automatically grading and sorting shellfish by establishing a wireless communications channel with a weighing scale device at a shellfish sorting site and calculating the weight of a shellfish specimen to determine in which grading category it is based on a number of pre-defined threshold weights, an indication is then output for the determined grading category. The method is versatile and can easily be implemented by both local and cloud-based systems capable of integrating with systems and scale devices in place at existing sorting sites. Systems for carrying out the method are thus also provided.
