A venous infusion catheter includes an elongated and hollow body defining an internal cavity and extending longitudinally between a proximal open end and a distal end, the elongated and hollow body being provided with a lateral port, the proximal open end being fluidly connectable to a source of fluid to be delivered; and an external balloon secured to an external face of the elongated and hollow body, the lateral port being located between the external balloon and the proximal end of the elongated and hollow body, the external balloon being modifiable between an inflated configuration and a deflated configuration, and the external balloon being fluidly connectable to a source of inflation fluid for inflating the external balloon. L'invention concerne un cathéter de perfusion veineuse, comprenant un corps allongé et creux définissant une cavité interne et s'étendant longitudinalement entre une extrémité ouverte proximale et une extrémité distale, le corps allongé et creux étant pourvu d'un orifice latéral, l'extrémité ouverte proximale étant en communication fluidique avec une source de fluide à administrer ; et d'un ballonnet externe fixé à une face externe du corps allongé et creux, l'orifice latéral étant situé entre le ballonnet externe et l'extrémité proximale du corps allongé et creux, le ballonnet externe pouvant être modifié entre une configuration gonflée et une configuration dégonflée et le ballonnet externe pouvant être relié fluidiquement à une source de fluide de gonflage pour gonfler le ballonnet externe.
