The electrical drive system includes a source of electrical energy (28), an inverter (50), at least one electric motor (32) operatively coupled to rotate at least one of the ground engaging mechanisms (11), a plurality of first electric cables (54) electrically coupling the source of electrical energy (28) to the inverter (50), and a plurality of second electric cables (56) electrically coupling the inverter (50) to the electric motor (32). The inverter (50) is disposed in the mobile machine (10) in a vertical orientation at the rear end of the machine (10).
