The process described is useful to prepare Pirlindole enantiomers of formula II or III, or a pharmaceutically accepted salt thereof. La présente invention concerne un procédé amélioré pour la synthèse d'un cycle pipérazine, en particulier pour la préparation de composés hétérocycliques utiles en tant qu'intermédiaires dans la synthèse de pyrazinocarbazoles tels que le pirlindole antidépresseur. Le procédé de l'invention est utile pour préparer des énantiomères de pirlindole, ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de ceux-ci.
