Summary:A device for cutting a surgical cable including a handle side including first and second gripping members pivotally attached to one another, and an intervention side including an outer tubular member, an inner tubular member within the outer tubular member having a coupling member attached on a proximal end, and a movable pinion attached on a proximal end of the coupling member. The distal end of the second gripping member is attached to a proximal end of the movable pinion and the distal ends of the outer tubular member and inner tubular member have at least two openings that are off-center but substantially aligned to allow a surgical cable or wire to pass through and to exert a shearing force on the cable or wire when the inner tubular member rotates with respect to the outer tubular member in response to compressing the first and second gripping members.
