Provided is a method for producing a highly unsaturated fatty acid while suppressing the degradation of a silver salt solution. A method for producing a composition that contains a highly unsaturated fatty acid, wherein the method comprises: charging a silver-salt-containing aqueous solution into a reactor and causing contact to occur with a raw material solution containing an alkyl ester of a highly unsaturated fatty acid; and recovering from the reactor the aqueous solution containing the silver salt that has been brought into contact with the raw material solution. The charging of the aqueous solution containing a silver salt into the reactor and the recovering from the reactor are conducted in parallel. L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un acide gras hautement insaturé tout en supprimant la dégradation d'une solution de sel d'argent. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production d'une composition qui contient un acide gras hautement insaturé, le procédé consistant : à introduire une solution aqueuse contenant un sel d'argent dans un réacteur et à provoquer le contact avec une solution de matière première contenant un ester d'alkyle d'un acide gras hautement insaturé ; et à récupérer dans le réacteur la solution aqueuse contenant le sel d'argent ayant été mise en contact avec la solution de matière première. L'introduction de la solution aqueuse contenant un sel d'argent dans le réacteur et la récupération du réacteur sont effectuées en parallèle.
