A vertical wind tunnel flight simulator comprising a flight chamber wherein a flier may experience a freefall simulation. A staging area having openings to the flight chamber is adjacent to the flight chamber. Airflow to support the flier is induced by a plurality of fans, connected to the flight chamber, in one or two return air ducts used to return air from the fans outlet to the fans inlet, the airflow passing through the fans into fan exit ducts which transition from roughly round to roughly square or rectangular.
