Summary:A cat litter sieving system comprises a litter handler convertible between an open container configuration, a transport configuration, and a disposal configuration; and a sieve. The sieve comprises a riser to retain a frame at a selected distance above a litter box, said frame supporting a mesh member having a perimeter and defining a plurality of holes therethrough of sufficient size to permit granules of cat litter to pass through while retaining clumps of cat litter. A method of removing clumps of cat litter contaminated with waste material from a granular cat litter is also provided.
