ABSTRACT A method for treating a mineral composition containing iron, arsenic or other Group VA compounds comprises milling the mineral composition to a particle size of P80 of less than 25 µm and leaching the mineral composition in the presence of lime and/or limestone and a soluble alkali complexing agent and in the presence of an oxygen containing gas at a pH in the range of from 3.5 to 6. La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'une composition minérale contenant du fer, de l'arsenic ou d'autres composés du groupe VA qui comprend le broyage de la composition minérale à une taille de particule de P80 inférieure à 25 µm et la lixiviation de la composition minérale en présence de chaux et/ou calcaire et un agent complexant d'alcali soluble et en présence d'un gaz contenant de l'oxygène à un pH dans la plage de 3,5 à 6.
