Summary: | Commercially practical methods have been developed for synthesizing carbon supported catalyst compositions comprising Pt and Nb oxide. NbO x is deposited onto a suitable carbon support and this composition is dry-milled together with Pt acetyl acetonate in order to deposit Pt acetyl acetonate thereon. Finally this composition is thermolyzed in a reducing atmosphere. The dry-milling step substantially reduces the amount of solvent required in the synthesis. The methods provide reproducible carbon supported catalyst composition products which show comparable performance, durability, and corrosion resistance characteristics to those prepared by conventional methods. |
