L'invention concerne un procédé de production de plante de betterave sucrière résistante aux herbicides comprenant les étapes de : - obtention de protoplastes à partir de cellules de garde des stomates isolées à partir d'une plante de betterave sucrière ; - application, sur les cellules, d'une composition contenant un herbicide de type ALS en une concentration qui est létale pour lesdites cellules ; et - régénération des plantes de betterave sucrière à partir des cellules survivantes.
