In one embodiment, the seal ring is disposed around the first portion. In another embodiment, the burst and collapse integrity of the first portion is substantially the same as the second portion. Selon un mode de réalisation, l'invention porte sur un appareil d'étanchéité qui comprend un mandrin et au moins deux parties, une première partie ayant une bague d'étanchéité disposée sur une surface extérieure et une seconde partie sans bague d'étanchéité disposée sur une surface extérieure. Dans un mode de réalisation, la bague d'étanchéité est disposée autour de la première partie. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, l'intégrité à l'éclatement et à l'écrasement de la première partie est sensiblement identique à celle de la seconde partie.
