The present invention is an aqueous pharmaceutical composition that includes an ionized therapeutic agent, an ionic component and guar gum. The guar gum is present in the composition a concentration sufficient to limit interactions between the ionized therapeutic agent and the ionic component thereby imparting stability to the composition. The composition is preferably at or near physiologic pH. The aqueous pharmaceutical composition has been found particularly useful as an aqueous ophthalmic, otic or nasal composition. The pharmaceutical composition, due to its characteristics, is particularly suitable as an ophthalmic composition. La présente invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique aqueuse qui comprend un agent thérapeutique ionisé, un composant ionique et de la gomme de guar. La gomme de guar est présente dans la composition à une concentration suffisante pour limiter les interactions entre l'agent thérapeutique ionisé et le composant ionique, conférant ainsi de la stabilité à la composition. La composition est de préférence au niveau ou proche du pH physiologique. La composition pharmaceutique aqueuse a été jugée particulièrement utile en tant que composition ophtalmologique aqueuse, otique ou nasale. La composition pharmaceutique, du fait de ses caractéristiques, est particulièrement adaptée en tant que composition ophtalmique.
