Summary:An impact resistant shingle is provided which includes an asphalt-coated substrate having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface having a headlap portion and an exposure portion. The headlap portion comprises a transition zone disposed at an edge region of the substrate distal to the exposure portion. The first surface of the substrate exclusive of the transition zone comprises granules, wherein the shingle has a smaller thickness dimension at the transition zone than a thickness dimension of a remaining area of the shingle. On décrit un bardeau résistant au choc, lequel comprend un substrat recouvert de bitume qui possède une première surface et une seconde surface, la première surface possédant une portion de recouvrement et une portion dexposition. La portion de recouvrement comprend une zone de transition disposée sur un rebord du substrat, distal à la portion dexposition. La première surface du substrat excluant la zone de transition comprend des granules, lépaisseur du bardeau étant moins importante dans la zone de transition qu'ailleurs sur le bardeau.
