Fatty amide compositions and their derivatives are disclosed. The fatty amides comprise a reaction product of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with a primary or secondary amine. Derivatives made by reducing, quaternizing, sulfonating, alkoxylating, sulfating, and sulfitating the fatty amide are also included. The amine reactant can be diethylenetriamine or (2-aminoethyl)ethanolamine, which provide imidazoline amides or esters, respectively. In one aspect, the ester derivative of the C10-C17 monounsaturated acid or octadecene-1,18-dioic acid is a lower alkyl ester. In other aspects, the ester derivative is a modified triglyceride made by self-metathesis of a natural oil or an unsaturated triglyceride made by cross-metathesis of a natural oil with an olefin. The compositions are valuable for cleaners, fabric treatment, hair conditioning, personal care, antimicrobial compositions, agricultural uses, and oil field applications. La présente invention concerne des compositions d'amides gras et leurs dérivés. Les amides gras comprennent un produit de réaction d'un acide mono-insaturé C10-C17 dérivé d'une métathèse, d'un octadécène-1,18-acide dioïque ou de leurs dérivés esters avec une amine primaire ou secondaire. L'invention concerne aussi des dérivés obtenus par réduction, quaternarisation, sulfonation, alcoxylation, sulfatation et sulfitation de l'amide gras. Le réactif de l'amine peut être du diéthylènetriamine ou du (2-aminoéthyle)éthanolamine, qui fournissent respectivement des amides imidazoline ou des esters. Dans un aspect, le dérivé d'ester de l'acide mono-insaturé C10-C17 ou de l'octadécène-1,18-acide dioïque est un ester alkylique inférieur. Dans d'autres aspects, le dérivé d'ester est un triglycéride modifié, constitué par auto-métathèse d'une huile naturelle ou d'un triglycéride insaturé obtenu par métathèse croisée d'une huile naturelle et d'une oléfine. Les compositions sont utiles pour des nettoyants, le traitement des tissus, les après-shampoings, les soins d'hygiène personnelle, les compositions antimicrobiennes, un usage agricole et pour des utilisations dans le domaine de l'huile.
