The present invention relates to the use of a substance selected from the group consisting of anti-inflammatory sub-stances, anti-microbial substances, anti-tumor substances, anti-viral substances, and/or bone stimulating substances as an additive to an UHMWPE material for the production of a medical implant for imparting benign body response properties to the medical implant. La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'une substance choisie dans l'ensemble consistant en substances anti-inflammatoires, substances antimicrobiennes, substances antitumorales, substances antivirales, et/ou substances stimulant l'os comme additif à un matériau UHMWPE pour la production d'un implant médical afin de conférer des propriétés de réponse corporelle bénigne à l'implant médical.
