La présente invention concerne la mesure de niveaux de biomarqueurs urinaires par spectrométrie de masse ou par dosage immunologique pour le diagnostic de la néphropathie, la surveillance de la progression de la néphropathie, l'évaluation de l'efficacité d'un traitement de néphropathie et l'évaluation de la toxicité rénale d'un agent. Ces biomarqueurs urinaires comprennent le récepteur 2 de type Ig associé aux leucocytes, l'alpha-1 glycoprotéine acide, leurs fragments, et des combinaisons de ceux-ci.
