The invention is directed to a method for designing an assembly of objects in a system of computer-aided design, the method comprising: - selecting (20) a first object and a second object of the assembly, each of the first object and the second object having interface information; - computing (40) a set of relative positions between the first object and the second object of the assembly; - ranking (80) the relative positions of the set between the first object and the second object according to at least one criterion; and - providing (90) the best of the relative positions between the first object and the second object according to the ranking step. Linvention porte sur une méthode de conception de lassemblage dobjets dans un système de conception assistée par ordinateur, la méthode comprenant : - la sélection (20) dun premier objet et dun deuxième objet de lassemblage, chacun du premier objet et du deuxième objet comportant linformation dinterface; - le calcul (40) dun ensemble de positions relatives entre le premier objet et le deuxième objet de lassemblage; - le classement (80) des positions relatives de lassemblage entre le premier objet et le deuxième objet conformément à au moins un critère et - la fourniture (90) des meilleures positions relatives entre le premier objet et le deuxième objet selon létape de classement.
