An apparatus (1) for cleaning the floor of an accommodation of an animal. The apparatus is provided with an air-flow-generating device (8) and with a control system (6) for controlling the operation of the apparatus, the apparatus being movable over the floor controlled by the control system and the apparatus performing a cleaning of the floor controlled by the control system. The control system is programmed in such a way that the control system controls the cleaning of the floor in such a way that the control system first activates and subsequently deactivates the air-flow-generating device. A method of cleaning the floor of an accommodation for an animal, the method comprising, as a first cleaning step, first generating an air flow and directing the air flow to the floor for removing loose material lying thereon. L'appareil est pourvu d'un dispositif générant un courant d'air (8) et d'un système de commande (6) de l'exploitation de l'appareil, l'appareil étant mobile au-dessus du sol et commandé par le système de commande et l'appareil procédant au nettoyage du sol commandé par le système de commande. Le système de commande est programmé de telle sorte que le système de commande commande le nettoyage du sol de manière à ce que le système de commande active d'abord puis désactive le dispositif générant un courant d'air. L'invention concerne un procédé de nettoyage du sol du logement d'un animal, le procédé comprenant, comme première étape de nettoyage, d'abord la génération d'un courant d'air et la direction du courant d'air vers le sol afin d'enlever les matières laissées en vrac sur celui-ci.
