The invention is a selective growth medium for investigating, isolating, counting and directly identifying pathogenic bacteria of the genus Listeria. The medium promotes the growth of Listeria spp. while simultaneously inhibiting the growth of non-Listeria organisms. The medium does not produce a bacterial biomass contaminated with interfering fluorophores. The medium contains nitrofurantoin, esculin and lithium chloride and lacks acriflavin. L~invention concerne un milieu de croissance sélectif pour rechercher, isoler, décompter et identifier directement des bactéries pathogènes du genre Listeria. Le milieu favorise la croissance de Listeria spp. tout en inhibant simultanément la croissance d'organismes autres que Listeria. Le milieu ne génère pas de biomasse bactérienne contaminée par des fluorophores perturbateurs. Le milieu contient de la nitrofurantoïne, de l~esculine et du chlorure de lithium et est dépourvu d~acriflavine.
