Summary: | The present invention provides an energy absorbing member for a vehicle having the excellent energy absorbing property, capable of preventing deterioration of the energy absorbing property in the case the stress by the impact is applied continuously so that the recessed ribs buckle in an energy absorbing member provided inside a vehicle structural member, without generation of the resin puddle in a blow molding step, or the like. The energy absorbing member for a vehicle I is a hollow product formed by blow molding of thermoplastics. It comprises a first wall 3 and a second wall 4 facing with each other, a plurality of pairs of recessed ribs comprising one side recessed rib 5 provided by denting the first wall toward the facing second wall and the other side recessed rib 6 provided by denting the second wall toward the facing first wall, and a welded surface with the top end parts of the one side recessed rib and the other side recessed rib welded and integrated, wherein the height of the one side recessed rib from the first wall to the welded surface is formed to 15.0 to 45.0 mm, the height of the other side recessed rib from the second wall to the welded surface is formed to 15.0 to 45.0 mm, and the interval between the first wall and the second wall of the energy absorbing member for a vehicle is provided by 30.0 to 90.0 mm on average. The energy absorbing member for a vehicle is made of a resin having large mechanical strength, including a polyolefin such as a polyethylene and a polypropylene, a styrene resin such as a polystyrene, and an ABS resin, a polyester resin such as a polyethylene terephthalate and a polyamide.
