Methods and systems automatically file documents relating to business transactions in a computer system so that data relating to a business transaction is accessible to a business application. An identification code is assigned to a business transaction having a data structure that is represented in the computer system. At least one input data record, which is provided with a structure specific to one or more of each different class of business transactions, is produced from data relating to the business transaction. The at least one input data record is transformed into an output data record, which can be read by one or more business applications.
