The invention relates to a control device for a cabin system in an airplane, said device serving to monitor and control functions, preferably, of information, audio, lighting, door water and/or sewage systems. The device has, inter alia, a main computer with a given operating system and an application software adapted to the cabin system, an operator's interface wi th a surface-sensitive input device, a controller for the operator's interface, a graphics controller, an audio controller and at least one magnetic coupler f or associated interfaces. In order to execute at all times additional functions independent of the control device, an additional personal computer serving a s second main computer with its central processor and other electronic components is integrated into the control device with a common screen and a common surface-sensitive input device in a housing in such a way that operation of the additional personal computer is carried out using the surfa ce- sensitive input device of the operator's interface. The central processor of the personal computer is independently connected to the main computer so tha t additional independent functions can be executed with the aid of the integrated personal computer by an operator without influencing the function s of the control device.
