The bed (10) further includes a mattress (18) having at least one air bladder (52, 54) and a controller (88) including a compressor (98) fluidly coupled to the at least one air bladder (52, 54). Th e controller (88) includes a second electrical circuit (96) that couples to th e first electrical circuit (56) so that at least one of the command signals received from the remote control unit (72) is communicated to the second electrical circuit (96) from the first electrical circuit (56).
