Summary: | A method of purifying fluoromethyl 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether by distilling the crude ether in the presence of a compound selected from among hydroxides, hydrogenphosphate s, phosphates, hydrogencarbonates, borates and sulfites of alkali metals, alkali metal acetates and phthalates, and boric acid. According to this method, a highly pure fluoromethyl 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether to be used as a medicine, especially as an inhalation anesthetic, can be produced by effectively inhibiting the decomposition of t he ether in the distillation step. |
