Summary: | A synthetic layered material, MCM-56, has a composition comprising the molar relationship X2O3:(n)YO2, wherein n is less than about 35, X is a trivalent element, and Y is a tetravalent element, and is further characterized by a sorption capacity for 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene of at least about 35 .mu.l/gram of calcined synthetic material, an initial uptake of 15 mg of 2,2-dimethylbutane/gram of calcined synthetic material of less than about 20 seconds, and an X-ray diffraction pattern for me calcined synthetic material having d-spacing maxima at 12.4 ~ 0.2, 9.9 ~ 0.3, 6.9 ~ 0.1, 6.2 ~ 0.1, 3.55 ~ 0.07, and 3.42 ~ 0.07 Angstroms. |
