A composition of matter is provided comprising a catalytic mixture resulting from contacting at least one of each of the following compounds, an pyridine compound, a clay compound, and an organo-nickel compound. Additionally, a process is provided comprising contacting, under polymerization conditions, at least one alpha-olefin, with a catalytic mixture resulting from contacting at least one of each of the following compounds, an pyridine compound, a clay compound, and an organo-nickel compound. Composition à base d'un mélange catalytique, obtenu par contact avec au moins un des composés suivants : un dérivé de la pyridine, un composé argileux et un composé organique du nickel. De plus, l'invention présente une méthode consistant à mettre en contact, dans des conditions de polymérisation, au moins une alpha-oléfine avec un mélange catalytique, soit par contact avec au moins un des composés déjà mentionnés : un dérivé de la pyridine, un composé argileux ou un composé organique du nickel.
