Summary:A method is provided for improving the optical performance of fluorescent coatings. The appearance of fluorescent coatings is improved by the use of hollow polymer particles which scatter ultraviolet light and shorter wavelength visible light. These hollow polymer particles may be employed as an additive in a fluorescent coating, as an additive in a basecoat onto which a conventional fluorescent coating is applied, or as an additive in both the fluorescent coating and the basecoat onto which the fluorescent coating is applied.
