Summary:Methods of clarifying wastewater and of dewatering sludge are disclosed. The methods comprise adding to the wastewater or the sludge an effective amount for the purpose of a polymer comprising repeat unit moieties of methacryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, said polymer having an intrinsic viscosity from about 1.0 to about 4.5 dl/g. Methods of clarifying wastewater and of dewatering sludge are disclosed. The methods comprise adding to the wastewater or the sludge an effective amount for the purpose of a polymer comprising repeat unit moieties of methacryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, said polymer having an intrinsic viscosity from about 1.0 to about 4.5 dl/g.
