The staple drive member (100) is capable of driving up to three staples (402) at a time and comprises a body portion (102) having a camming surface (104) at its proximal end (111A) contacted by a transversely moving cam (302), and three rectangular staple pusher plates (106A, 106B, 106C) oriented in a staggered arrangement such that two outside plates (106A, 106C) are located predominantly at the proximal end (111A), and one middle plate (106B) is located predominantly at the distal end (111b). |
