Summary:COUNTER-ROTATING PROPELLER ASSEMBLY FOR POWER BOATS The propeller shaft extends rearwardly from the drive housing through a fixed body portion and is splined at the outer end. An inner propeller is secured to an inner hub journalled for rotation on the body portion and an outer propeller is also journalled for rotation on an outer hub also journalled upon the body portion. The hubs for the propellers have a concentric cavity on the two mating sides thereof and bevel gear rings are secured within these cavities with bevel gears being journalled for rotation on the body portion and engaging between the two bevel gear rings. The outer propeller is secured to the splined end of the propeller shaft and rotates therewith and the bevel gears drive the other or inner propeller in the opposite direction of rotation. The cavity portions containing the bevel gear rings and bevel gears are sealed against water ingress and may be packed with grease.
