Summary:The invention related to a process for preparing pure N-methyl-antranilic acid methylester. On performing the process, antranilic acid is methylated in an aqueous medium, then the desired N-methyl-antranilic acid methylester is separated in a way that the methylated reaction mixture is poured on water and the mixture is extracted with an aromatic hydrocarbon or halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon further the organic extract is further extracted with diluted hydrochloric acid, thereafter the solvent is distilled off and the desired product is isolated.
