Summary:A process for the production by fermentation of the egotropically effective antibiotic nourseothricin is described, by which with the use of various carbohydrate sources and suitable inorganic and organic nitrogen sources, as well as of different mineral salts with or without the addition of inhibitors of the respiration chain or of the intracellular aminoacid transport high concentrations of this antibiotic can be achieved in the culture solution by way of influencing the phosphate metabolism and avoiding further limitations under controlled acidity conditions. Extraction of the effective agent from the culture solution takes place either by a chromatographic process in the form of salts, or by the addition of a physiologically compatible adsorbent as a nourseothricin adsorbate that contains mycelium, which can be preferably used for dosing the mixed feeds.
