Summary: | The invention relates to noncariogenic and sugarless chewing-gum and a process for manufacturing it. The chewinggum according to the invention is constituted by gum, by an aqueous softening agent and by one or several solid sweetening agents, which include or not mannitol, characterized in that the aqueous softening agent is at least partly constituted by a hydrogenated starch hydrolysate containing less than 3% of polyols having a DP higher than 20, from 45 to 60% by weight of maltitol and from 0.3 to 19% by weight of sorbitol, the balance to 100% being constituted by a mixture of polyols having a DP from 3 to 20, the final chewing-gum including from 5 to 35% by weight of hydrolysate and the proportion of mannitol being less than 10% by weight when the proportion of hydrolysate is higher than 10% by weight, less than 5% by weight when the proportion of hydrolysate is higher than 15% by weight and about zero or even equal to zero when the proportion of hydrolysate is higher than 20% by weight, percentages being with respect to dry matter. |
