Summary:The invention relates to novel basic ethers of the general formula /I/ and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and quaternary salt, thereof, /I/ wherein R1 and R2 may be the same or different and represent a C1-5 alkyl group or a C3-6 cycloalkyl group or they form, together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, a heterocyclic ring containing 4-7 carbon atoms and optionally a further hetero atom, e.g. an oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen atom, and his latter may be optionally substituted by a C1-3 alkyl, benzyl or phenyl group, R represents a phenyl, phenyl-/C1-3 alkyl/ or ? group ? substituted by one or more halogen or C1-3 ? ? substituent/s/, A represents a C2-5 straight or branched alkylene chain, and ? represents a valence bond of ? or .beta. configuration. The compounds of the general formula /I/ are prepared according to the invention a./ by reacting a compound of the general formula /II/ /II/ wherein R has the same meaning as above, whereas R3 denotes an alkali metal atom, an alkali-earth metal atom or a group of the general formula ?-Me, wherein ? denotes halogen and Me stands for alkali-earth metal atom, with a compound of the general formula /III/ /III/ wherein Y stands for halogen and A, R1 and R2 have the same meaning as above; or b./ by treating a compound of the general formula /IV/ /IV/ wherein R has the same ? ? as above, with an agent suitable ? ? produce as R3 group and reacting the compound of the general formula /II/ thus obtained, wherein R and R3 have the above-defined ?, with a compound of the general ? ? /III/; or c./ by reacting 1,7,7-trimethy-bicycle/2.2.1/ ?-2-one of the formula /V/ with ? as ? -metallic compound, decomposing the complex thus obtained, and reacting the compound of the general formula /IV/ thus obtained, wherein R has the above defined meaning, with a base suitable to introduce an R3 group, and reacting the compound of the general formula /II/ thus obtained with a compound of the general formula /III/, and, if desired, converting the compound of the general formula /I/ thus obtained into a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt or quaternary salt. The new compounds of the general formula /I/ possess valuable anticonvulsive, motility inhibiting, hexobarbital narcose potentiating and analgesic effects, which are, in case of certain compounds, complemented by weak antiserotonine, gastro-intestinal-tract inhibiting and antiinflammatory effects, and can be applied to advantage in the therapy.
