Summary:A precast concrete silo complex and a method of constructing it, comprising quarter-cylindrical precast concrete members, as unit members, each being provided with a pair of radially protruding couplings as high as the member proper near both the ends of the member proper; said unit members being arranged to form unit cylinders; said unit cylinders being arranged lengthwise and crosswise, with the couplings to face the couplings of adjacent unit cylinders, thereby forming a coupling space between each two adjacent unit cylinders surrounded by the facing two pairs of couplings and by the marginal members proper between said couplings; horizontal clamp rods being set through said coupling spaces between said marginal members proper and between said couplings; reinforced concrete being placed in said coupling spaces, and said horizontal clamp rods being tightened to clamp said marginal members proper mutually and said couplings mutually, to give prestress to said reinforced concrete, thereby combining the adjacent unit cylinders and solidifying the unit cylinders arranged lengthwise and crosswise; said unit members being joined vertically and sequentially by mortar, to pile said unit cylinders; and vertical clamp rods being vertically set through said unit members to give prestress to the piled unit cylinders, solidifying vertically, thus silo cylinders with a desired height being solidified lengthwise and crosswise, with the inside of said silo cylinders as main silo means and the spaces formed among said adjacent silo cylinders as sub silo means.
