Summary:ICE SHEAR KNIFE The present invention relates to an ice knife for use with an ice breaker having a hull and a stem. The ice knife is mounted on a forward portion of the stem of the ice breaker for contact with an ice sheet. The knife has a leading edge surface for contact with the ice sheet and first and second side surfaces positioned substantially parallel with respect to each other and joining the hull of the ice breaker with the leading edge surface. The leading edge surface is flat and perpendicular to the side surfaces so that substantially all of the loading generated by the ice breaker on the ice sheet is perpendicular to the longitudinal plane of the ice sheet.
