Oxidation of vinblastine or its acid addition salts yields N-desmethyl-vinblastine and vincristine and also a new compound designated "RGH-4451", Oxidation of leurosine or its acid addition salts yields N-desmethyl leurosine, Ndesmethyl-N-formyl leurosine and a new compound designated "RGH-4478" These oxidation products display anti-tumor properties or are readily convertible to compounds displaying anti-tumor properties.
