Summary:The present invention discloses a rotary sheet fed printing machine, particularly for perfecting, having sheet transfer drums which are disposed between the printing units and under which sheet guide plates extend over their entire width. The sheet guide plates are fastened so as to be stationary and each of them is associated with a sheet transfer drum. The sheet guide plate of a sheet transfer drum is disposed upstream of an impression cylinder and approaches the drum periphery in the direction of rotation of the drum. The sheet guide plate of a sheet transfer drum disposed downstream of the impression cylinder extends away from the drum periphery in the direction of rotation of the drum in such a manner that at any speed of the machine an air cushion is necessarily formed between the lower side of the sheet. The sheet is transported by the respective sheet transfer drum and the appertaining sheet guide plate.
