Summary: | A process for the preparation of 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-propiohydroxamic acid comprises the steps of forming a mixture of 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-propionitrile as a starting compound and anhydrous methanol. The mixture, is saturated with dry hydrochloric gas under cooling, reacted and the reaction product, diluted by ethyl ether, whereby a precipitate is formed. The precipitate is reacted with a mixture of a methanol solution of hydroxylamine hydrochloride and a sodium hydroxide solution under stirring, and the reaction product diluted with water and the desired compound precipitated by carbon dioxide. |
