Summary: | A process for recovering fatty acids and/or rosin acids which comprises the steps of saponifying a tall oil head and/or pitch, introducing the saponified material into a thin film evaporator equipped with a rake and having a clearance of not more than one millimeter between the blade tips and the surrounding tube wall, evaporating and removing the low-boiling matter including unsaponifiables by a treatment at a temperature not lower than the melting point of the resulting soaps, and thereafter decomposing the saponification products. |
