Summary: | 1376088 Powder coating composition FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 29 Nov 1972 [4 Feb 1972] 55176/72 Heading C3B A powder coating composition comprising (I) a copolymer of glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate with one or more other ethylenically unsaturated compounds; (II) a carboxy-terminated polymer and (III) a pigment is prepared by first forming a mixture of II and III and subsequently blending this with I. The composition may additionally comprise flow control agents, antistatic agents and catalysts. I may comprise 8-30% by weight of glycidyl (meth)acrylate units, typical examples being disclosed in Specification 1,334,354 to which reference is made. II may be prepared by reacting excess dicarboxylic with an epoxy resin, e.g. a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A or it may be a carboxyl terminated polyester. II may be used so as to provide 0À8-1À1 carboxyl groups per epoxy group of I. Examples of III are TiO 2 , TiO 2 plus ultramarine blue, TiO 2 plus phthalocyanine green, TiO 2 plus ferrite yellow and carbon black. An example relates to electrostatic coating on an electrically earthed steel panel. |
