Summary:A system for recording collisions in motor vehicles. The system includes a control unit that is connected to ultrasound sensors that can be disposed on or in the vehicle and is connected to acceleration sensors that can be disposed in the vehicle. Accident events are detected by the control unit based on acceleration values that are above a limit. Also, events below this limit are recorded when an approach to or contact with a collision object is determined by the ultrasound sensors.
